Wagner’s Ring Cycle at Staatsoper Berlin
October 1-10, 2022
Master Wagner interpreter Daniel Barenboim has collaborated with stage director Dmitri Tcherniakov to produce Maestro Barenboim’s third version of the tetralogy since his tenure at the Staatsoper started. The work is to be presented in in three Cycles during October 2022 at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.
Maestro Barenboim will lead the Staatskapelle and an impressive ensemble of renowned vocal artists including Michael Volle, Andreas Schager, Anja Kampe, Rolando Villazón, and Johannes Martin Kränzle.
Due to our long-standing relationship with the Staatsoper we are extremely pleased to have secured a limited allocation of best category seats for the premiere Cycle, starting with Das Rheingold on October 2 and closing with Götterdämmerung on October 9, providing a timeframe that also takes full advantage of Berlin’s early fall weather and other attractions.
The Titanic Gendarmenmarkt Berlin, enjoying an enviable location near Berlin’s most beautiful square, and within a comfortable walking distance of the Museum District and prime retail area around Friedrichstrasse, has been selected as our base. Spacious Deluxe rooms have been reserved and a generous breakfast is included daily. Luxurious spa facilities are available in the hotel. There are also many and varied dining options in the vicinity. Crucially, the hotel sits just steps away from the Staatsoper, permitting excellent flexibility.
While the Ring is the central focus during the week, we are including an orientation tour of the city and a fascinating day excursion to the nearby city of Potsdam where we will visit the Cecilienhof (Potsdam Conference venue) and Frederick the Great’s Sans Souci summer palace.
